DESCRIPTION | Very good and useful pair of vintage late Charles II (1660-85) style English loaded sterling silver candlesticks with dominant central acorn knop above a secondary knop and ring turned circular base with shallow depression. This last feature would catch spilt wax and also provided a convenient place to engrave your coat of arms. Note the lack of drip pans or sconces as we now call them. Sconces did not regularly appear on candlesticks until 1735. |
