DESCRIPTION Pair of early English Georgian cast solid sterling silver sugar nips or tea tongs with an engraving to the small box hinge. Interesting pear form grips with detailed scallop decoration and a single mark over striking itself within one. Although clear, I cannot read the double struck mark.
SILVERSMITH mark unclear, might be a lion passant so no maker's mark
DATE or HALLMARK early shape and style with small box and pear shape grips marked within one only point to a date 1725-35
