DESCRIPTION | Superb, highest quality, vintage English solid sterling silver George II style inverted pyriform (pear-shaped) tea pot on a ring turned foot. This form was first seen in 1728 and continued in popularity throughout the Rococo period. This example is quite large and holds approximately 1.1 litres or 1.93 Imperial pints or 2.3 US pints. The inside is nicely tannin coated which I have left in place because it is claimed that this enhances the flavour of your tea. The hallmarks are struck to the base within the foot so are perfect, just as they were struck fifty-five years ago. Handle pins are perfect, lovely hinge action to the lid and wonderfully thick silver throughout. A beautiful piece and a great pourer too, absolutely no drips and no lid spillage either. George II style without the condition issues. |
