DESCRIPTION |
Georgian silver cream jug with a flying leaf capped and scrolling handle and a blank cartouche. The body with embossed and engraved decoration and a light internal gilding. If I were to decorate a jug in this fashion I would do
it before attaching the legs and handle and so when all the internal areas behind the joints are plain I assume the decoration to be later although many dealers would disagree and offer such a piece as original. |
SILVERSMITH |
Walter Brind. Clearly he had trouble marking the curved bottom with his flat punch and without distorting the shape, having made two attempts with only partial success. |
