DESCRIPTION | Good and interesting antique English Georgian solid sterling silver salver with beautiful hallmarks and an unusual central crest engraving of a Moor's head with shackled neck above a scrolling monogram. No erasure to the centre and the position of the two engravings placed above and below the central point, neither would look correct alone, indicates that these two engravings were done simultaneously. Interesting crest and owner's initials could enable the early owner to be tracked down. The underside is nice and original with assayer's scrape still visible, an old 'scratch weight' and other faint markings. |
