DESCRIPTION Elegant and rare antique English Georgian solid sterling silver oval teapot stand with bright-cut engraved decoration and a good central crest over the filled original monogram.
SILVERSMITH Hester Bateman

ASSAY OFFICE London
WEIGHT in GRAMS 140
WIDTH 168mm
SILVER STANDARD .925 sterling silver
CONDITION very good, the engraved decoration to the perimeter of the field has softened, gentle leg top impressions to rim, three little bumps/digs to the plain field. The cartouche has had the original cursive 'B' monogram filled. This is much better than erasure and a technically more difficult and expensive process indicating that this piece has always been highly prized. Immediately after a fresh professional polish and under high powered photographic lights the 'B' can just be seen but under normal circumstances you will struggle.
