DESCRIPTION | Scarce set of six very good antique English loaded solid sterling silver double struck (pattern both sides) Queen's pattern full size table knives with the original old steel blades. Old steel will take and maintain a far sharper edge than modern stainless steel. I have put a comfortable cutting edge on them now but take care when re-edging. It is very difficult to find old steel still in excellent and useable condition. Even more difficult is to find antique knives with beautifully soldered joints between steel blade and silver handle such as these. Should an accident occur and your knives find themselves in a dishwasher they will not explode like knives without soldered joints could. |
