DESCRIPTION | Highly decorative antique English Victorian solid sterling silver Hanoverian pattern three piece child's christening set with beautiful engraved decoration and monogram inscribed cartouches front and back. The solid silver knife blade is hallmarked for Sheffield 1850 so must have been a stock blank not used until 1874 when the three pieces were combined and decorated. Quite logical for the blade to have come from Sheffield, the historic home of cutlery. The knife handle has traditional pitch loading so should not be put into a hot dishwasher. |
