DESCRIPTION Exceptionally good antique English early Georgian solid sterling silver punch ladle with a turned wood handle and heart form boss.
SILVERSMITH Joseph Clare I, rumoured to have died in 1728 but as this is clearly his mark and no others used anything similar we must conclude that the rumours were unfounded. It is possible that he recorded later marks in the 1739-58 smallworkers book that is now lost.
