DESCRIPTION Antique English Georgian solid sterling silver punch ladle inset with a Georgian sterling silver shilling. The long handle is partly spiral and terminates in a silver cap. The silver shilling is from 1743 and features the older bust of George II, the legend GEORGIUS (1743-45) instead of the more usual GEORGIVS and roses in the angles (1743-47). Punch bowl engraved 'G'.
SILVERSMITH not marked
DATE or HALLMARK not marked but circa 1780 due to the presence of Bright-cutting and a punch bead rim.
ASSAY OFFICE London, probably but similar pieces were made provincially
