DESCRIPTION | Good and useful vintage English solid sterling silver wine funnel with thread decoration, plain suspension hook, pierced bowl and complete with muslin ring. All three pieces correctly hallmarked. The pierced bowl holds back any cork but the main straining is done by a piece of muslin held between bowl and funnel. For extra clarity I like to also add a disc of cotton wool pad held in place by the muslin. Make up removal pads are ideal. Morrison (UK supermarket) do a particular good one labelled 'Skin, nutmeg, 100% cotton'. Press the muslin ring into the pad, cut out the disc and hold in place beneath bowl with muslin and funnel part. |

CONDITION | very good. A common issue is the splitting of the seam at the stem tip (bottom opening) if the funnel is dropped. There is very well executed solder work to the stem tip seam that has added much strength to this vulnerable area and so the chance of future splitting has been significantly reduced |
