DESCRIPTION |
Very good Georgian silver orange strainer with a single flying leaf and shell capped 'S' scroll handle opposite a simple suspension hook
that is discreetly crested with a nine pearl coronet indicative of a Viscount. The circular bowl is extensively pierced in a flower pattern that has partly obscured the otherwise very clear hallmarks.
Correctly hallmarked with an additional lion passant to the handle. A weak spot with this type of strainer can be the handle, particularly where it joins the body.
This example has a little strengthening flange below each handle/bowl joint.
This feature combined with the good thickness of silver throughout should enable the continued safe use of this strainer for many more years. |
