| DESCRIPTION | Useful pair of antique English Victorian solid sterling silver salts with gadroon decorated top rims, ball feet and fully gilded interiors. A blingy pair that can be thrashed around the dining table with abandon. |

| SILVER STANDARD | ·925 sterling silver |
| CONDITION | Constructed in sections soldered together; top rim, sides in two sections soldered vertically at two diagonally opposite corners, base plate, four ball feet. I suspect that the salt attacked the two vertical corner joints because these have recently been re-soldered and the internal gilding reapplied. The silversmith appears to have gone for strength and functionality over subtlety. On the plus side we have functional salts with a potential weak point strengthened and fresh internal gilding. One salt is a little twisted and has a slight rock on its feet. Small bump to one corner (right salt image 1). |
