DESCRIPTION | Good and large early Victorian English solid sterling silver snuff box with rococo engraved decoration and a beautifully gilded interior. The cartouche to the lid has the original monogram engraving and to the underside is a landscape featuring a water inlet with sailing vessels, a tall tower with a dome atop and a minaret. I am thinking The Bosphorus from Golden Horn on the European side of Istanbul looking towards the Sea of Marmara. |
