INDEX ALL SILVER
DESCRIPTION Interesting and scarce pair of antique English Georgian cast solid sterling silver sugar tongs with Feather Edge decoration and a monogram engraving to the bow. Correctly hallmarked with just the lion passant and maker's. You may like to compare with M1533, a pair that I sold many years ago and were made in partnership with his brother Thomas around 1765. The partnership was on and off throughout much of the 1760s.
SILVERSMITH William Chawner I. Likely to be one of William's marks that was recorded in the now lost largeworkers register for 1758-73.
