DESCRIPTION

Good pair of Georgian silver concealed hinge tea tongs or sugar nips with a nice tight hinge.

SILVERSMITH

William Chatterton. This silversmith was prosecuted at Hick's Hall in 1767 for soldering bits of standard silver to tea tongs and buckles and sending the same to the Company's Assay office, in order fraudulently to obtain their marks to same. This pair look fine though.
