DESCRIPTION |
A very unusual pair of heavy, cast, Victorian silver tongs or candle douters (out-quenchers) formed as a Harlequin holding two coiled serpents. At first glance these appear as tongs for lump sugar, but the flat bowls indicate that they were probably made for extinguishing candles. | ||
