DESCRIPTION

A silver double sovereign case also fitted as a stamp case and with the possibly unique feature of an extra clip in the lid. This extra and sprung clip would hold a folded bank note or perhaps the high value parcel post stamps of the day. The lid has a fiendishly clever one handed opening mechanism. The design registration number 621492 marked to the lid tallies with the date of manufacture and so this must be an early example, perhaps even the first or only example. We have not seen another before.
