SILVER STANDARD |
.925 sterling silver plus tiny punch mark applied over the right side of the lion passant that is probably an old French tax mark. Not surprising that this item has travelled to France at some time past, on a very clear day I can see the northern French coastline from my window. |
OVERALL CONDITION |
excellent, I would expect to see an engraving or erasure on a piece from this period but I can find evidence of neither. However, the silver is thick and certainly thick enough to take an erasure without leaving any evidence. There are no thin spots at all. |
FAULTS |
micro split to the the gadroon border, a well executed repair to a rim split one side of the top handle joint and a tiny scratch mid body, all shown below. |
