DESCRIPTION | Pretty little Victorian solid sterling silver gilt strawberry set consisting of sugar bowl, cream jug and sugar tongs, all with fully gilded interiors and contained within the original gilt lined leather, silk and velvet case. Once the property of Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma and third cousin to Queen Elizabeth II. In March 2021 Sotheby's in London sold the sexier items of Patricia's inherited estate for £5.6 million. In April 2021 my local auction house sold of some of the more personal and domestic items. I bought a few of them. There is much about this family already on the internet so I will not add more here. Inside the case is a handwritten slip of paper that is most likely from an old inventory. |
