DESCRIPTION | Very smart little dish with engine turned decoration and solid red gold piped highlights. The applied central plaque is held on by four gold pins and is engraved with the Prince of Wales feathers and motto Ich Dien. More likely bought by the POW to be given away rather than for his own use. |
SILVERSMITH | retailer appears to have over-struck the maker's making both hard to read, also inscribed to the base 'Dreyfous, maker to H.M. The King, 30 Old Bond St. (London). Dreyfous were a high end retailer with shops in London, Paris and New York. |
