Silfren and The Bedford Gallery
DESCRIPTION |
Interesting 19th century two handled sugar bowl with a richly gilded interior. Overall floral and foliate repousse decoration heightened with chasing and engraving above a deeply matted ground. The silver is thick and the craftsmanship exceptionally good. The only obvious marks are those of the importer struck to the base. The style of decoration and superb quality points to an item of Chinese origin, made for export. | ||
