INDEX | ALL SILVER |
DESCRIPTION | Heavy antique English silver PLATED tea caddy with a pull off measuring cap and gadroon borders. Thick metal and surprisingly heavy. Little nibbles to the top edge (inside the cap) reveal hints of copper. Small scratches and expected wear points still silver so silver plating is very thick. I think this could be the old Sheffield plate where a sheet of solid pure silver is fused to a thicker sheet of solid copper. |
