DESCRIPTION | Wonderful Georgian silver salver with a shell and scroll border, three hoof feet on scrolling legs and clearly struck hallmarks. The engraved armorial and mantling are correct for the period and are still beautifully crisp. As there is no sign whatsoever of an erasure these are very likely to be original. |

OVERALL CONDITION | excellent, almost perfect original condition. Three tiny high points (1 to 2 mm across) to the border have rubbed where they meet the base and these have been filled from below. This is a common issue and usually caused by domestic polishing using a circular motion. The high points get caught more than the rest and rub through. Always polish your silver up and down or side to side whenever possible to avoid such issues. |
