DESCRIPTION |
Hand made spoon, see the original hammer marks still present to the bowl back, that has been made traditionally in two parts. The bowl is made separate to the hexagonal section stem and drop and
the two parts soldered together. The terminal would have most likely been inset with a cabochon but this is now missing. |
SILVERSMITH |
no marks that I can see but in the style of The Guild of Handicrafts under C. R. Ashbee. |
DATE or HALLMARK |
circa 1900 |
WEIGHT in GRAMS |
48 |
LENGTH |
6 ½", 167mm |
SILVER STANDARD |
no, there are no hallmarks and the metal feels too hard to be solid silver so I will say silver plated although there are no worn through patches even though the spoon has seen plenty of use.
Perhaps just very high quality silver plate. |
CONDITION |
sold just as I found it with surface marks commensurate with use, missing cabochon and perhaps in need of a thorough clean |
