DESCRIPTION | Antique English Georgian solid sterling silver Old English pattern table spoon with a frontal monogram engraving. |
SILVERSMITH | Peter and Jonathan Bateman. When Hester retired in 1790, the firm was taken over by her two sons Peter and Jonathan on the 7th December 1790. Sadly, Jonathan died from cancer on the 19th April 1791. As a consequence, this is the rarest Bateman mark and much sought after, although seldom encountered. |

CONDITION | An ordinary Georgian silver table spoon in good condition with a few little bumps and minor surface marks. However, what makes this spoon important are the hallmarks, and they are all as clear as the day when they were struck. I usually have table silver cleaned and polished but in this instance I believe it better not to. |
