INDEX | ALL SILVER |
DESCRIPTION | Good quality set of six William IV pitch loaded solid sterling silver Old English Thread and Shell pattern table knives with a crest engraving and later stainless steel blades. I have seven of these but one handle is in poor condition. I have removed the blade and pitch loading of this one to weigh the silver. It is an impressive one ounce, a very healthy and satisfying weight for a knife handle. All are fit for use but best to keep them out of very hot water and the dishwasher. If stored for extended periods without use, I recommend lightly smearing the blades with olive oil. |
SILVERSMITH | William Boss (possibly) one or two of the WB marks appears overstruck. William only registered his mark for the year 1832 so I presume he went back to working for another and we know nothing more about him. |
