DESCRIPTION | Georgian silver early Old English pattern soup ladle with a scarf joint to the lower stem and a monogram engraving to the terminal. Although early for Old English pattern it is not too early, especially for a serving piece. I can find no evidence of conversion from Hanoverian and the two part construction using a scarf (overlapping) joint together with the wide stem indicates the very earliest of Old English. The hallmarks are well struck and exceptionally clear. |
