DESCRIPTION | Superb and impressive antique English Edwardian solid sterling silver pocket flask with engraved decoration. One of the finest examples that I have seen. Not only looks fantastic but, perhaps more importantly, feels fantastic in the hand and is a good size too. Benefits, I am not being flippant, from a quite significant seam repair. Most of these flasks will have seam splits or seam repair, sometimes both. You can see the original solder joint all around the edge where the two flat halves meet. In this instance a beautifully executed and delicate thin grey line. Obviously too delicate as the seam has popped on one side and a tiny bit near the bottom corner on the other, perhaps when a loaded and closed flask has been sat on. The repairing silversmith has decided that this is not going to happen again and has strengthened this weak spot significantly. Seen best in image eight and image seven for the little spot near the bottom corner on the other side. Not only a stunning example but now robust too. |
