DESCRIPTION Exceptionally good antique English Georgian pierced solid sterling silver salt with blue glass liner. Rare to find a Sheffield made example, I have only had London before. Blue glass liner has a shaped base that does not exactly fit the shape of the hole in the bottom so liner sits slightly high and is also quite a tight fit. I think this has preserved this piece from salt corrosion. With the liner fitting tightly and slightly proud it has been difficult for salt to get down the sides and corrode the base. I have never seen a salt of this type in such good condition before.
