DESCRIPTION | Good quality antique English Edwardian solid sterling silver mustard pot of generous proportions and complete with original hand-made blue
glass liner and mustard ladle. Both pieces engraved EJC. Royal Provenance The monogram EJC is for Sir Ernest Joseph Cassel. By descent these items came to his great grandchild Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma and third cousin to Queen Elizabeth II. In March this year Sotheby's in London sold the sexier items of Patricia's inherited estate for £5.6 million. In April my local auction house sold of some of the more personal and domestic items. I bought a few of them. There is much about this family already on the internet so I will not add more here. |
