| DESCRIPTION | Very good vintage English solid sterling silver cigarette box with engine turned engraved decoration, a blank rectangular cartouche and cedar wood interior. These boxes will often have had a hard life, they are dropped and the corners cave in or, whilst being sat on a table, they have things dropped on them and the tops are dented. This example is exceptionally good with none of the usual catastrophic dropping events but does have a little flaw just above the hinge on the right side. Most likely it was picked up by the lid and the base swung down. See the second image, tiny vertical line that is half split and half crease. All looks stable now but still worth a mention. The psychedelia that you may see in some images is just an imaging aberration. |
